Progress!!!!

This has been one of my stitchiest weekends by far!!! I basically did nothing but stitch and watch movies for 2 days. Loved it!!!

I saw The Lovely Bones....very sad and poignant movie. I didn't read the book (could NOT get into it!!). I think I got through maybe 3 chapters and put it away. So I don't know how closely the movie followed. The ending sort of had me confused though. I saw I Could Never Be Your Woman with Michelle Pfieffer and Paul Rudd (who I adore!!!). It was directed by the same lady that made Clueless (which I LOVE!!!). The movie was very silly and had some laugh out loud parts, but I couldn't help but finish watching it....LOL Then I got sucked into The Pacific, the mini-series on HBO. Wow!!! What an intense, beautifully done show. I'm not a big war type movie watching gal so I was very surprised how much I enjoyed it. I got through the first 6 parts and stayed up late Saturday and Sunday to watch it.

Progress Report

I had an extremely lazy weekend! Too bad we can't have more of them :)

I'm really enjoying T is for Time. Of course, I enjoy stitching all the PS charts. They're just so easy and flow easily onto the fabric. Not having much backstitching at all HELPS a lot! LOL

Now, this next one should've been finished this past week. But as you can see, I didn't. For whatever reason, I had a tough time getting past those rows of orange. All of these patterns are similar in that respect, too. So, who knows what my issue was! LOL I'm hoping to finish it this week though. Yeah, right, who am I trying to kid!!

Oh, and I saw Seven Pounds w/Will Smith yesterday. It was a good movie, but it certainly was not one of his best. The damn movie honestly left me confused and I sure as hell didn't like the way it ended. It was tragic and uplifting at the same time, but it still left me wanting more at the end.

I had a very low key weekend. It's been raining almost non stop since Saturday morning. So, I basically just stitched and watched movies all weekend. And very minimal amount of housework :)

I've finally caught up with my Spirit Sampler. I've left the words off for now. I'm thinking about changing...not quite sure yet. I've really enjoyed this SAL. It's such a pretty, easy design to stitch.


I also worked on BoINK some. I was in such a feverish state to finish it that I bored myself silly with the damn thing! LOL I'll try to put a couple of strings in it every couple of days though. TDee won't let me forget about it :)


And because I was so bored, I decided to start a new project. Yes, I needed to add another log to the fire like I need a hole in my head, but I just couldn't resist :) So, I started Q is for Quilt by Prairie Schooler. I'm stitching it on 28 ct fiddlers evenweave cloth. This is the fabric that Hobby Lobby used to sell by the bolt and now is rarer than I don't know what! If anyone knows where I can get some more of this wonderful fabby, please let me know.

As far as movies, I watched 300 with Gerard Butler. I saw maybe 20 minutes of it and just couldn't watch anymore. Not even watching Gerard's sexy body could make me watch more of this movie. I'm not against bloody movies per se. I think the special effects were a little over the top and the storyline just didn't grab me, I guess. I then saw Freedomland. Now this was a very gritty, disturbing movie. The storyline really bothered me, but I know things like that still happen in this world. From there, it was Nim's Island's turn to be seen. What a fun, lighthearted movie. I thoroughly enjoyed this one. And, yes, Gerard Butler was sexy in this one, too :) Then yesterday I saw Street King w/Keanu Reeves and Forrest Whitaker. It wasn't the best acted movie by far, but I enjoyed the storyline and I loved watching the bad asses get their payback :)

Last Thursday, I treated myself to a trip to my used bookstore (UBS). I was in a mood for some lighthearted, easy to read romance novels. You know, like Silhouette and Harlequin. So, I walked out with 5 of them and I only paid $15.00! You just can't beat that. I blew through 2 of them as of last night. I think I'll read one more and then get back to the more "serious" books in my "to be read" pile.

Well, I've been having the cold crud since New Year's Eve night. I felt it coming on before I left the house that evening, but I ignored it because I had plans with my friend, Mari. We weren't doing anything special or outlandish. Just hanging out at her house, drinking and reading on her porch. Well, we did the hanging out part and she did most of the drinking part. I tried but I just wasn't feeling it. Somehow I made it till midnight, watched some neighborhood fireworks and I crashed! Woke up the next morning with a full fledged cold and I've been fighting it ever since. Kinda sucks when you have an extra long weekend and you spend it fighting a stupid cold! LOL I hope it's not a sign of how my year is going to be.

My Christmas was very low key. My aunt was allowed to come home for 8 hours. So, I fried some chicken and made macaroni and cheese. I wasn't expecting to cook at all and that's pretty much all we had in the fridge. It was either that or turkey sandwiches....LOL

My aunt is now home. She's still in pain but she's walking a little better, but still very slow. The staples have come out. She's got a nurse and a therapist coming a few times a week. So, it'll be a slow recovery for her but everyday she'll get a little better and a little stronger. We just have to make sure she moves around and doesn't just sit on her butt all day....LOL

I did get the most beautiful Christmas present from an unexpected source for the holidays. Mari's uncle had this gorgeous rosary made for me by a friend of his. In the box with the rosary, he wrote a little note that said he had these african beads for over 10 years and didn't know what to do with them until he had an epiphany to get them made into a rosary for me. I can't tell you how touched and stunned I was to open up that small box and see what was in it. I think it was the best present I've ever gotten from anybody.

Since, I've been pretty much laid up these past few days, I've gotten quite a bit of stitching done on The Quiltmaker and the MSAL by Ink Circles. I'll post pics of my progress tomorrow in a separate blog.

I've also watched quite a bit of movies. I've seen How the Garcia Girls Spent Their Summer, Rendition, The Women, Untraceable and The Golden Compass. I enjoyed these movies for the most part. The Women was a bit cliched, but was interesting was the fact that you didn't see a single man in the movie! Not as an extra, not as a voice, nowhere! Untraceable was great! Hated the ending though. I seem to have issues with endings these days :)

Oh, and counted up my book reads for 2008. I read 48 books. I know that may be a mere pittance to some of you, but that's damn good for me!
